The National History and Archaeology Museum Chisinau Moldova,
Museutopia project 2008
The National History and Archaeology Museum was founded in 1983 with funds transferred from the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History of Moldova and the Museum of Military Glory. The 19th century building, designed by Alexandru Bernardazzi, initially housed the first Bessarbian regional school for boys. Three of the Museum’s ten showrooms are dome-shaped architectural compositions. The permanent exhibition is divided into several sections: Archaeology and Ancient History, History of the Middle Ages, Bessarabian History, and Modern History and Treasures. The Museum’s collection consists of about 300,000 objects of historic value such as archaeological findings, documents, photographs, numismatics, and popular arts and crafts.
